Big Formal Gardens

There is an undeniable magic to the large formal garden. We look at the pictures and we imagine ourselves living there, owning that garden, being in that special space.
These large spaces are astounding on the effect they have on our senses and feelings; lending us energy in an amazing way we struggle to understand.
That they do this is undeniable - you have only to look at these pictures (a shallow representation of the spaces) and you get a sense of wanting to visit. A desire to be in that space if only as a tourist and only for a short while.
Great gardens do this for us. They lend us a belief that we can do something. The provide inspiration and dreams. They lend us something for a few brief moments and we, as humans, are better for it.
And that my friends is why I love visiting these gardens. I have absolutely no ambition to actually own one (well, maybe if it came complete with a gardening staff) but I love being in them.
Remember, gardening and landscaping are about creating living spaces, interacting with our environment in a way that works for both of us.
